BODY - MIND CONNECTION: TREMORING AS A WAY TO RELEASE TRAUMA

Life can be quite challenging. It has its ups and downs that we can sometimes manage well, while at other moments we find ourselves hitting our limits and needing time for recovery and regeneration. Some of these experiences are familiar to us, while others are so deeply buried that we do not consciously remember or recall them.

Our bodies store our experiences, and we can work with them. In times of crisis, we are often more open to help and support. Once the intensity of an event has passed and life moves forward, we are forced to function. In doing so, we often have less time or resources to process what has happened in our bodies due to the traumatic event.

Through the polyvagal theory by Stephen Porges and the many available body therapies, we gain a better understanding of the intelligence of our bodies. Nevertheless, I regularly find myself in situations where everything seems right and should feel right, yet I sense internally that something is not congruent. Often, I cannot name the reason for this, but I feel fatigue, a sense of emptiness in my head, lack of motivation, or other persistent symptoms.

We need a method that allows us to frequently, easily, and effectively access the self-healing powers of the body. One simple method is TRE = Trauma Release Exercise. Once learned, we can practice it at home, step by step, to achieve more relaxation, inner trust, and a bit more freedom.

The body has a built-in system for regulating tension and trauma; it instinctively shakes them off. By activating and fatiguing specific muscles, we prepare the body for this process. By adopting certain physical positions, we support the muscles in gaining easy access to tremoring. Tremoring is the body’s natural mechanism for releasing accumulated tension.

This release not only leads to deep relaxation but also fosters a feeling of safety, which in turn allows for a new experience of security.

From my experience so far, I can say that after a month of regular tremoring, my sleep quality has significantly improved, my overall energy level has increased, and my meditation has become softer and gentler.

Stay tuned – soon we will be able to tremor together.

With love
